SEA Canada Reaches Milestone in Torpedo Launcher Technology Transfer

SEA Canada has successfully completed the first stage of technology transfer for the Twin Stack Torpedo Launcher System (TLS), marking an important milestone in the company’s Canadian manufacturing programme.

Drawing on decades of launcher system expertise from the UK, SEA Group has transferred key elements of its Twin Stack TLS design capability to Canada, where the system will be manufactured at SEA Canada’s purpose-built facility in Ottawa.

This achievement forms part of SEA Canada’s commitment under Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) programme. From the outset of the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) programme pursuit, SEA Group established a long-term vision to bring specialist skills, advanced manufacturing capability, and product technology into Canada. The objective is not only to fulfil ITB commitments, but also to strengthen sovereign supply chains and improve resilience across SEA Group’s global product portfolio.

The Twin Stack Torpedo Launcher System is made up of a wide range of highly engineered and intricate components that together form the complete operational system. This latest milestone represents the successful manufacture of a complete essential component assembly by SEA Canada’s skilled workforce, built entirely using Canadian-sourced materials, parts, fixings, and Canadian steel.

The accomplishment demonstrates the growing maturity of SEA Canada’s manufacturing capability and highlights the strength of Canada’s high-quality industrial supply chain.

SEA Canada continues to embrace technology transfer opportunities through the ITB programme, recognising the long-term benefits they bring to both domestic capability and global manufacturing resilience. SEA Canada also sees significant value in leveraging the expertise, innovation, and quality offered by Canadian suppliers as it continues to expand its contribution to SEA Group’s international operations.
